• Submits representation to SDEO Zunheboto
• Serves 15 days deadline to take positive action
Zunheboto, February 22 (MExN): The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) on Monday took a stand to “eradicate” the practice of ‘proxy teacher.’ Expressing anguish over the inability of the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland to remove the ill practice of ‘proxy teacher,’ the ZRSU submitted a representation to the Sub Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Zunheboto on February 21, 2022 demanding “to take strict measures to completely eradicate the malpractice of ‘proxy teacher’ in Government schools within Zunheboto District Headquarter.”
According to the union, despite repeated appeal and request, the Department has not taken any positive steps to curtail the issue of government teachers keeping ‘proxy teachers’ which is very much apparent in the society. “With the availability of many professionally trained teachers awaiting recruitment, those unwilling to serve in schools should be removed to pave way for those willing to serve with dedication,’ it stated.
ZRSU has appraised the SDEO Zunheboto office to take positive action within 15 days of its representation. “The department will be held fully responsible in case of failure to curb the issue within the stipulated time; thereafter the Union shall take its own course of action,” it cautioned.
Further, the ZRSU also warned the erring Government teachers within Zunheboto town and Zunheboto area to stop the malpractice of keeping ‘proxy teachers.’ The Union shall initiate stringent measures against those erring teachers “who only enjoy their salary without any effort of providing quality education to the students.”
It affirmed that ZRSU will “go to any extent to make sure that the unethical practice of ‘proxy teacher’ is eradicated in our society.”
