ZSUN, other organisations condemn killing

Peren, August 5 (MExN): The Zeme Students’ Union, Nagaland has condemned the alleged murder of Dichungbe Newme in New Beisumpui village under Peren on August 4 night by an unknown assailant. 

Late Dichungbe, the father of ZSUN Information & Publicity Secretary, Suirangbe Newme, was an employee of the state Department of Power, a press release from the ZSUN President and Executive Secretary stated.

Describing the deceased as a “quiet, tranquil and just,” the ZSUN expressed shock and anguish at the “inhumane fiendish murder” and asserted that “there is no place for such diabolic act in the society.” 

“The Union condemns this brutality and demands that timely justice be delivered at the earliest possible time,” the release stated while demanding that that the perpetrators be apprehended and rewarded befitting punishment. 

It further conveyed condolences to Suirangbe Newme and family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Meanwhile, the New Beisumpui Village Council, New Beisumpui Women Organization and Youth Organization New Beisumpui also issued a statement condemning the “heinous and brutal” killing of Dichungbe Newme.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, the organisations called upon the investigation agencies to unearth the culprit and punish the wrongdoer appropriately as per the law of the land to deter recurrence of such inhuman crime in the future.

Beisumpui Deulung Council: In a separate statement, the Kebai Area Public Organization and Beisumpui Deulung Council condemned the killing and demanded that the District Administration and the Police Department ensure that necessary steps are taken so that the culprits are apprehended and rewarded befitting punishment. 

Stating that justice must be delivered to the bereaved family, the organizations cautioned that delay in delivering justice will escalate insecurities and fears in the area.
