Zunheboto, November 8 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) convened on November 8 at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) conference hall. Chaired by DC, the session focused on reviewing last month’s minutes and discussed several development projects for the district.

The meeting commenced with DPO David Sema conducting a review of the previous DPDB meeting minutes. Key on the agenda was the approval and forwarding of the proposed nomenclature change and relocation of Aghunato School, which is anticipated to enhance educational infrastructure in Zunheboto.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by the District Agriculture Officer, who discussed the district’s current agricultural programs, including the PM Kisan Yojana, Integrated Farming Systems, and rainwater harvesting initiatives. These programs, along with poultry development and national food supply schemes, are designed to increase productivity and ensure farmers have access to modern farming techniques that promote soil fertility.

DC emphasized agriculture’s role in Zunheboto’s economy, urging that soil mapping data be provided to farmers to help them make informed crop choices. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) also stressed that agricultural officers should ensure farmers understand soil types in their areas to optimize crop selection, fostering collaboration across departments.

The meeting also prepared for the upcoming Ahuna festival, scheduled from November 12 to 14. DC announced that Sumi Hoho will host the 2024 celebration, showcasing various cultural and entertainment events, and invited all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to participate, noting that prayers will be held for the HoDs as part of the celebrations.

The DC concluded by announcing that next month’s DPDB meeting will take place by the Tizu River, celebrating the district’s festive season.
