ZYF (N) asks state govt to release pending salaries

Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland has appealed the state government to release pending salaries in order to avoid any inconveniences for its employees during the ongoing lockdown period.

In a press release on Monday, the organization expressed dismay over the delay in release of pending salaries of various departments, particularly of fourth grade employees—adhoc, fixed pay labourers and work charge employees of Electrical department, PHED, PWD, etc. In spite of the heavy workloads and meager salaries that they receive after three-four month intervals, such lackadaisical attitude towards the ‘lowest paid’ government employees, especially during the lockdown has affected their livelihoods, it said. It also stated that other livelihood alternatives such as daily wage work or construction works are not available due to imposition of complete blockades on transportation, other than movement of essential commodities vehicles, and lack of construction materials, it added.

The organisation also stated that it had received information from officials that development oriented departments like agri and allied, horticulture, land resources, water resources, etc., had rescinded development activities due to non availability of funds to undertake schemes and projects. As such, it questioned the state government as to why such developmental schemes and projects were halted, at a juncture where such arrangements for self reliance, empowerment and skill development are expected from the government.

It asked the state government to roll out every available flagship scheme and immediately release pending salaries of its employees.
