Fuel adulteration: NSF demand impartial probe

DIMAPUR, JULY 16 (MExN): To bring out factual reports, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has raised a number of demands to the Nagaland Government to facilitate the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the fuel adulteration racket.

In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, the NSF on Saturday demanded that SIT set up by the Government should be given independent authority without any outside interference in the course of its investigation in order to unearth the racket and the individuals and agencies involved without manipulation of the fact-findings.

It said the Government should ensure that, the arrested persons in connection to the case should not be given bail under any circumstances. The SIT should be given a stipulated timeframe to submit its report.

After submission of the report by the SIT, stringent action should be initiated against the defaulter and the license/permit of those agencies found guilty should be cancelled, the Federation demanded.

Failing to comply with the demands, the Government shall be held solely responsible for any further action taken by the NSF, the memorandum stated.
