‘Glocal Concepts Nagaland’ shares environmental concerns

Kohima, July 16 (MExN): The monthly meeting of Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held at DC’s conference hall, Kohima on July 16. The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.  

During the meeting, Kezhangulie Kire from ‘Glocal Concepts Nagaland’, a noble project on environmental friendly local initiative presented its concept on sustainable development and ways to beat the plastic pollutions and to promote economic empowerment through creation of employment avenues.  

He said that the ‘Global Concepts Nagaland’ took its birth out of intense environmental and sustainable economic concern and since when the team has set up coffee nursery and plantation under the Department of Land Resources, Nagaland in the year 2016-2017, introduced Avocado Plantation procuring its seeds from Myanmar and set up nurseries in Kohima this year.  

The team has also been experimenting on bamboo pet bottles to replace plastic mineral water pet bottles showing positive offing, he added. He said the team’s vision and mission was to take a step towards a ‘Green capital Kohima and a Green State of Nagaland’. He also highlighted on the hazardous of plastic usage to the environment and the substitute of plastic usage with bio-degradable items to meet a plastic-free Nagaland as desired by PDA Government within six months time.  

He hoped that with the support and encouragement from the State Government, a realistic and conclusive sustainable economy can revolutionize our state, which would create employment avenues for the youths of the state.  

Earlier, the meeting reviewed the last minutes, where the Adoption Committees highlighted their activities being carried out in their respective adopted villages/wards. ADC, Lithrongla appreciated on the activities being initiated and also requested them to create awareness on the activities under the aegis of DPDB in their respective adopted villages.  

On the agenda of registration of new societies, Lithrongla read out the six applicant societies which were verified by the concerned verifying officers and District Screening Committee where the house decided to recommend it for onward submission to the Government for further necessary action.  

Pamphlet on ‘Man loses Money’ an awareness and caution one must have while making financial investment, issued by the Reserve Bank of India and circulated by Home Department was distributed among the members. The departmental presentation will be given by Agriculture Department in the next DPDB meeting.
