Kohima Smart City reaches out to government schools

Kohima, September 9 (MExN): The Kohima Smart City in collaboration with the Green Team Kohima is visiting government schools in Kohima town for awareness on plastic pollution and waste segregation as part of the ‘100 days Smart City Campaign on Sanitation.’ 


Two teams comprising of Kohima Smart City officials and Green Team Kohima visited Government Middle School, Daklane and Government Middle School, Aradura Lerie Chazou on September 9.


“The Kohima Smart City sought the permission of the District Education Officer Kohima and the Heads of Schools to allot time in the morning assembly so that normal classes are not disturbed,” Jt. CEO, Kohima Smart City stated in a press release. 


The visiting teams gave short talks on plastic pollution and waste management and also conducted hands on demos on waste segregation.  Posters with Naga characters and cleanliness/ environment slogans were also given to the schools for putting up on the walls and notice boards. A pictoral and interaction based powerpoint presentation was presented in GMS Daklane which was met with enthusiastic participation from the students. Short movie clips on the Anti Plastic Man Part 1&2, produced by Department of IPR and Dreamz Unlimited were also shown.


The students of both schools took a pledge towards ‘My Waste, My Responsibility.’


The visiting teams reported of clean school compounds, well behaved enthusiastic students and positive feedbacks from Teachers in both the government schools. The teams will be visiting 10 more schools over the next few days.
