Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland formed to fight for liberty & equality

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7 (MExN): A new regional party calling itself the Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland announced its formation today.

A press note from the media cell of the party said that it was formed by concerned educated youths to “revolutionize and develop the lives of the Nagas from the perspective of the 21st century.” Led by SI Pongen as President and Ishka Wotsa as General Secretary, the Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland plans to contest the general elections in 2018 “by means of clean election.”

With its motto being ‘Liberty, Equality and Fraternity,’ the party lamented that “there is no equal opportunity for the people from economic and political perspectives in our society.” Despite the stress on unity, it said “we are still divided and there is but little feeling of fraternity among the Nagas.” The party, it affirmed would “fight for the liberty and equality of the people in the eyes of the law and create platforms that would promote the feeling of fraternity among the Nagas.”

Regarding its developmental priorities, the party termed unemployment as the greatest threat. It said the party would create private firms in the urban areas and promote agro based entrepreneurships in the rural areas. It also affirmed to focus on human development through seminars and public conferences about personality development.

It stated that the present government in the state is “indeed playing with our rights and privileges.” It affirmed commitment towards clean elections, which it stated would reduce corruption.   “Do we really have to wait for another decade to conduct clean election?” When will the Nagas finally open their eyes and notice the evils of the corrupted persons sitting in the chairs and say enough to them instead of depending on them? Will we be forever the slaves of money or the master of our own future?” it questioned

“We are not another political party promising to develop and furnish the roads, give away tin roofs, bags of rice, small village funds etc. Our perspective and scope is much bigger. We hope to bring advance technological, economical and infrastructural development in our society. We don’t believe that it would take another hundred years to finally develop Nagaland but no matter how long it would take, we would start initiating it unlike all those veteran politicians who gave up knowing it will never be completed during their time,” the party statement said.

It is high time, the party stated, that “we start doing the rational thing for our society, things that make sense and matters.” It stated that the Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland would give priority to connecting Nagas “altogether by creating various social platforms so that everyone will be involved in shaping a new civilized advanced Nagaland.”

“We will be open with any individual or groups with critical arguments about our party or suggestions by either having a private meeting or public conferences and friendly gentleman’s debates. We would also appreciate the support of the people during our campaigns and hope that every victim of the corrupted governance over the decades, to stand together with us to close the chapter of our corrupted governments and start afresh,” it said.
