NBCC appeals young voters to maintain peace

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appealed to all the youth voters in the state to maintain peace and tranquility for free and fair election.

A press note from the Youth Secretary of the NBCC appealed to all to abide by the Clean Election Guidelines and respect the pledge made by each individual. “While Clean Election Campaign is making an impact in many ways then reckoned, challenges like selling and buying of votes still exist,” it noted.

“Youth are the hope of today and the leaders of tomorrow,” the NBCC stated, adding that “change is the cry of every young mind.” But who will bring the change? It questioned.

It said that the opportunity to bring change is now at the doorstep. “Your vote is powerful; use your valuable vote to bring positive change in a much needed society. Use your God given birth-right to vote for God fearing person in order to bring positive change and development in our society,” the NBCC encouraged.

It further urged young people to avoid youth camps, physical intimidations, use of alcohol and drugs, and stay away from immorality. “Do not be used as a political tool by some vested politicians for their benefits, avoid proxy voting.”

The NBCC cautioned that “buying and selling of votes and booth capturing is not only a sin but will eventually inviting divine judgment.” It appealed to all young voters to “prayerfully exercise their franchise with a clear conscience” as they go to poll on February 27.
