SIR in Nagaland: Uncollectable EFs cross 1.2 lakh; Dimapur, Chümoukedima top list
Kohima, September 9 (MExN): The number of ‘uncollectable’ Enumeration Forms (EFs) under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nagaland stood at 1,21,157 as of 4 pm on September 9.
The figure represents 8.93% of the total electors, according to the latest status report of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland. The report records 13,57,208 total electors, with EFs distributed to all 13,57,208 electors (100%).
Dimapur recorded the highest number of uncollectable EFs at 35,371, accounting for 28.14% of its total electors. It was followed by Chümoukedima with 24,523 (22.31%) and Kohima with 17,798 (14.55%).
Peren recorded 6,708 uncollectable EFs, followed by Zunheboto (6,474), Mokokchung (6,135), Tuensang (5,463), Wokha (4,061), Longleng (2,803), Mon (2,702), Noklak (2,243), Kiphire (2,164), Phek (2,153), Tseminyu (1,066), Pughoboto (586), Meluri (491) and Shamator (416).
The latest figure marks an increase of 38,239 uncollectable EFs from the 82,918 reported on September 6, when the figure stood at 6.11% of the total electors, the last status figure reported here.
The increase has been particularly notable in Chümoukedima, where the figure rose from 13,173 to 24,523, and in Dimapur, from 28,581 to 35,371.
The “uncollectable” category is also being used in SIR exercises in other States, including Karnataka, Mizoram and West Bengal, where election authorities have recorded reasons for Enumeration Forms not being collected.
More specifically, the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra’s SIR FAQs state that an Enumeration Form may remain uncollected where the elector is absent, has permanently shifted, is deceased, or is already enrolled elsewhere.
The Nagaland CEO's latest status report, however, does not provide a corresponding breakdown of its 1,21,157 uncollectable EFs by reason. However, while ordinarily be excluded from the draft electoral roll, eligible electors can seek inclusion during the claims and objections process.
Meanwhile, the latest data also show continued progress in digitisation, with 11,48,427 EFs digitised, accounting for 84.62% of the total electors, while 962 EFs have been submitted online by electors.
Following publication of the draft electoral roll on September 20, electors will have until October 20 to file claims and objections. Disposal of such claims is scheduled through November 18, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 22, 2026.
