Kohima, October 9 (MExN): A health camp under the Kohima Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was conducted at Community Health Centre (CHC), Viswema, on October 9.
The programme was organised by the District Administration, Kohima, in collaboration with Project REST, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), and NHAK Football Club, with the objective of promoting accessible healthcare and raising awareness about substance abuse.
The programme was chaired by Dr T Adi Belho, Senior Medical Officer, CHC Viswema, and commenced with an opening prayer by Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Dental Surgeon, NHAK.
Dr Thejakuolie Dennis, Medical Officer, CHC Viswema, highlighted the importance of community-based healthcare initiatives in improving access to medical services and underscored the need for collective efforts in promoting health awareness and preventing substance abuse.
In keynote address, Ane Khieya, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Kohima, emphasised the importance of collaborative action between the administration, healthcare institutions, and local communities in addressing social and public health concerns.
The programme further featured a session on the harmful effects of addiction by Dr Sungtimen Jamir, Nodal Officer, Project REST, NHAK, who highlighted the importance of awareness, prevention, and early intervention in tackling substance abuse.
The health camp brought together specialists from various disciplines, including Nephrology, Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Dental Surgery. The participating specialists were Dr. Vikie-o Khruomo (Medicine and Nephrology), Dr Angvito Zhimomi (General Surgery), Dr Krunichuno Rino (ENT), Dr Thejanuo Angelina Solo (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Dr Ruutuou Sorhie (Paediatrics), Dr Sungtimen Jamir (Family Medicine and Mental Health), and Dr. Neiphrezo Sorünuo (Dental Surgery, NHAK).
The programme also featured a friendly football match between the NHAK Doctors Football Club and Viswema Youth at Jakhama Turf, promoting sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy lifestyles among healthcare professionals and local youth.
Meanwhile, Viswema Village Council acknowledged the organisers, participating doctors, officials, and community members for their contributions.
The initiative reaffirmed the collective commitment towards strengthening community healthcare and advancing the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan for a healthier and addiction-free society.
