The Purvottar Bharat Parikrama- Northeast Car Rally reached Kohima today after covering 2200 Kms across four states (West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam & Arunachal Pradesh) in the past nine days.

The Car Rally has been joined by PVC awardee, Sub Maj & Hony Capt Yogendra Singh Yadav, PVC (Retd).

On reaching Kohima, the members of the car rally paid homage to brave soldiers at the World War II memorial and felicitated the families of valiant soldiers who laid their life for the nation.

The family of Capt (Late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC and Hony Capt Imliakum Ao, MVC was also felicitated during the event.

A motivational talk was also given by Sub Maj & Hony Capt Yogendra Singh Yadav, PVC (Retd) to the NCC cadets and school students.

Purvottar Bharat Parikrama rally is traversing through Northeastern states of India to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav’.

The car rally was flagged off by Army Commander HQ Eastern Command Lt Gen RP Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM on 22nd Mar 23, on the eve of Shaheed Diwas.

The rally will be conducted over approximately 4000 Kms and has covered arduous terrain to include Nathu-la in Sikkim, Se-la and Bum-la in Arunachal Pradesh, and now is travelling states south of Bharamputra River.

This rally aims to promote national unity, camaraderie and national integration among people of different states, religions and cultures bringing together different sections of society and building a “New India” that is stronger and more prosperous. It also focuses on enhancing awareness about India’s rich history and cultural heritage among the youth of the region and also the tourism potentials of the Northeastern region.
