Training on Election Expenditure Monitoring Mechanism at Longleng

Longleng, January 27 (DIPR): The 2nd phase of training on Election Expenditure Monitoring Mechanism was held at DC conference hall Longleng on January 27. The briefing was attended by the Election Expenditure Cell, Police Officer in charge of Flying Squads, Static Surveillance Team, MCMC team, Videography Surveillance Team and Political Agents of all intending candidates/parties.  

Briefing on the activities of the Election Expenditure Monitoring cell for smooth conduct of election the DC & DEO Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam appealed to all the various teams to coordinate with each other for clean and fair election in the district. He said the success and failure of election will depend on the performance of various teams and committees headed by the DEO and urged them to extend full cooperation to each other without blaming others for any failure.  

He informed that Election Expenditure Observer will be arriving on January 30 and all expenditure of the candidates will be monitor by the Election Expenditure Monitoring cell which is very vital for free and fair elections. He further informed that for clean elections in the state the ECI have instructed for use of CCTV and videography team to monitor the activities of election, attachment of GPS to flying squads team to check movement of FS team and installation of webcasting and offline recording system in the polling stations. Therefore, the DC & DEO urged the officials engaged in election duties to discharge their duty with utmost sincerity to avoid victimize.  

The DC &DEO also appealed to the political agents/parties to adhere strictly to the guidelines of the ECI, proper maintenance of expenditure register and day to day submission of expenditure of the candidates to the expenditure monitoring cell. Handbook on Election and copies of various Annexure were also distributed to the political parties and the team leaders of various committees.  

The briefing concluded with discussion and clarification of doubts later visited the Expenditure Monitoring cell at DC office.
