ZCOs accuse NSCN (IM) of ‘distorting Naga history’

Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Civil Organizations (ZCOs) has accused the NSCN (IM) of dishonoring the contribution of Haipou Jadonang in the Naga political struggle.

ZCOs under the banner of the Zeliangrong Baudi drew objection to what it termed as the NSCN (IM) distorting the “history of Naga political journey by ignoring Haipou Jadonang’s supreme sacrifice” in the NSCN-IM’s “Nagalim Calendar 2020.”

The organizations, in a press release, claimed “No one can deny Haipou Jadonang was the founder and pioneer of the Naga political movement,” for which he was labeled as “Naga Raj.”

The release said that his resistance movement against the British administration resulted in his death.

“Haipou Jadonang’s supreme sacrifice for the Naga cause and for his people to secure a better future and the political movement which had been continuing for decades with maximum participation, involvement and immense contribution by the Zeliangrong people was the impetus for NSCN (IM) to have gained massive support and popularity once upon a time in the past.”

As opposed to Jadonang’s contribution, it termed the NSCN (IM) “distorting the genuine Naga political history” as “cheap and ridiculous.”

While calling upon the Naga people to “not allow such distortion of the sacred Naga political history,” it appealed the Zeliangrong people to be cautious and not fall victims to “falsehood manufactured by irresponsible people.” It further said that whoever respects and honors the supreme sacrifice of Jadonang should not buy the “Calendar.”

“It is the collective responsibility of leaders of the churches, women’s societies, religious leaders, village leaders, youths, students and general public to reject such distortion of the sacred Naga political history,” it added.
