100 hrs blockade along Imphal-Jiribam road

Newmai News Network Imphal | September 7   The All Manipur Student Union (AMSU) on Friday announced to impose 100 hours economic blockade along the Imphal-Jiribam Road from the midnight of September 8 in protest against the state government's failure to book the culprits involved in the alleged incident of September 3 evening at Nungba.   The AMSU accused the NSCN (IM) of threatening the AMSU volunteers at Nungba, who were returning back from Silchar along with some Manipuri singers after a programme. The AMSU also alleged that its volunteers were also looted by the four individuals who identified themselves as NSCN-IM cadres.   Speaking to media persons on September 7, the AMSU leaders said they are imposing the 100-hour blockade after the lapse of 72 hours given to the state government to book the culprits. The AMSU leaders also said that more intense forms of agitation will be resorted to in the event of the failure to book the culprits by the state government after the 100-hour blockade.   On September 5, the NSCN (IM) had denied involving in the alleged September 3 incident as accused by the AMSU. On the same day, Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh had said that “necessary search operations to nab the culprits had already begun in the area”.
