110 cases resolved in statewide Lok Adalat; Over Rs 1 crore settled

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority settled 110 cases out of the 363 that were listed during the Lok Adalats (People’s Court) in ten districts on Saturday.  According to updates from the NSLSA’s Public Relations Assistant, the matters included cases that were pending in courts as well as those in pre-litigation stage.

 

A total of Rs 1,18,52,562 has been paid to litigants  in cases related to bank recoveries, criminal compoundable cases and motor accident claims, it added. The settlement amount which includes fines, bank recovery, compensation, money suits, etc., is the amount mutually agreed for payment between the litigants (or) parties who are involved in a dispute. The Lok Adalat was conducted by legal services institutions across all the districts in the state excluding Noklak and Tuensang. The 10 Lok Adalat sitting benches were constituted by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in the respective district headquarters, according to the updates. It stated that the conciliators, through persuasive arbitration, conciliation and amicable efforts, resolved the disputes and cases.
