2023 election crucial in wake of many challenges: Neiphiu Rio

In continuation of the campaign trail, Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today appealed the electorates of the 14th Southern Angami-1 Assembly Constituency to elect Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Medo Yhokha to strengthen the party.

Addressing a public rally for the candidature of Yhokha at Kigwema in Kohima district, Rio, who is the chief star campaigner of NDPP, said that the upcoming 2023 election is crucial in a wake of many challenges and issues surrounding the state.

Rio assured that the NDPP- BJP alliance if voted to power would take the right decision and pursue for solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue, ENPO demand, delimitation exercise among the others. He appealed to the people to vote responsibly and support NDPP-BJP alliance to form the next government.

Stating that NDPP has a broad vision to carry Nagaland towards peace, all round development and a state of excellence, Rio called the people to take a wise decision in electing their representatives.

Rio asserted that whosever takes wrong decision would land into the ground of dilemma but the right decision will facilitate a comfort zone and also lead to a bountiful harvest. In this, Rio called upon the electorates to elect the good leaders to bring reformation.

Stating that politics is a number game and the more the NDPP candidates win the elections, it would gain more strength to carry the voices and aspirations of the people to the 14th House of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

In his address, Yhokha announced to focus on youth empowerment and skill upgradation, strengthening entrepreneurship, gender equity, human resource advancement, upscalling local produce and to champion environmental cause.

We cannot get all our aspirations at one go but under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the NDPP, we are hopeful that we can achieve in the next 5 years, he said.

Yhokha, who is the sitting MLA of 14 Southern Angami -1 AC also appealed the people to vote for him again this time “so that we can pursue our aspirations together.”

“Your vote will be not just for me individually but for our NDPP, for our constituency and for Nagas as a whole,” he said.

Two ex-candidates Seyievilie Peter Zashümo and Khrielezo Bio spoke at the rally and extended support to Yhokha. NDPP Central Vice President, Theyiekielie Tachu also addressed the rally.
