Advisor TN Mannen inaugurating the photography festival

The 3rd Nagaland Photography Festival kicked off on Thursday at Yimchalu village, offering a wide array of events and activities. Organized by the Photography Club Dimapur and hosted by Yimchalu village, the three-day event includes a photography exhibition, workshops, an angling competition, a futsal tournament, music performances, cosplay, and a variety of food stalls.

The festival was inaugurated by T. N. Mannen, Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, Government of Nagaland, who attended as the Chief Host. In his speech, Mannen emphasized the significance of photography as both an art form and a powerful medium for documenting reality. He highlighted how photography captures and preserves memories, shapes societal perceptions, and plays a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage. Mannen noted that photography transcends cultural and language barriers, allowing people to understand historical events and visually communicate important stories.
He also discussed photography as a career, describing it as a flexible and creative field with numerous specializations, such as wedding, wildlife, and documentary photography. Mannen encouraged young people to seize the opportunities in the industry, urging them to learn essential skills and develop professionally.

On the first day, the Photography Exhibition was inaugurated by Nginyeih Konyak, Chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women. The Angling Competition, which featured 92 participants, was marked by a presentation ceremony attended by A. Pangjung Jamir, Advisor for Fishery & Aquatic Resources, as the special guest. The Futsal tournament, with 28 teams competing, was inaugurated by Benei Lamthiu, MLA and Chairman of DPDB Noklak, as the guest of honor.
Earlier in the day, Sony representatives conducted photography workshops, providing attendees with insights into various aspects of the craft. The Music Extravaganza featured performances by popular artists, including Halinator, Akhrieze, and The Gluttones.
The venue also hosts 43 stalls offering food, beverages, apparel, gadgets, and mini-games. The 3rd Nagaland Photography Festival will continue until September 21.
