A two day long 4th Inter-Department Badminton Tournament 2024 (Kohima edition) under the aegis of Inter-Department Badminton Club (IDBC) Kohima concluded today at Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Multipurpose Hall, Kohima.
Gracing the closing ceremony as the guest of honour, Kovi Meyase, president Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA) and secretary and ex-officio director Employment & Skill Development, Nagaland commended the IDBC for successful conduct of tournament for the fourth year in succession.
“The Association (KDBA) is more than pleased to see the game being propagated and we are thankful to the Inter Department Badminton Club,” he said.
The Association is also conscious of the fact that this Club (IDBC) consists of not only some of the most passionate players of the game but also of the many great minds who can influence the growth of the game in our district and even beyond, he said.
Meyase congratulated the organisers, players and all the department officials for what certainly continues to be a competitive bout of not only about hitting a shuttle and winning, but of fostering that bit of sporting camaraderie amongst all the participants and departments.
Further, Meyase was optimistic that the moments during the tournament will go a long way towards creating positive outputs at “our work places.”
The tournament featured men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles and Men’s 50+ and the Champion and Runner-up in each category awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.
26 departments joined the tournament.
The closing ceremony was chaired by IDBC member M. Rhovisie Nyuwi while vote of thanks was proposed by Sushil Kumar Patel, member IDBC Kohima.

Mixed Doubles: Champion-Uma Tamang & Lantinmang (Nagaland Police); Runner-up-Kekhriesetuo Ziephru and Neikethono Vakha (IDBC)
Women’s Doubles: Champion- Uma Tamang & Seyiekunuo Lohe (Nagaland Police); Runner-up- Prathana K Thapa & Hailamlungle (Principal Accountant General)
Men’s Doubles: Champion- Muzivo & Mudozo (Treasuries & Accounts); Runner-up- Motilo & Temsu (Treasuries & Accounts)
