562 recruits pass out of Police School

562 recruits became full-fledged police men and women after passing out of the Nagaland Police Training School (NPTS), Chumukedima.

The 562 – which included 34 ASIs and 528 Recruit Havildars and Constables – were formally inducted during a Ceremonial Attestation Parade of the 37th Batch Cadet Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) and Assistant Inspectors of Excise (AIE) cum 63rd Batch Recruit Havildars and Recruit Constables at the NPTS Ground in Chumukedima on Friday.

Chief Guest at the Attestation Parade, Director General of Police, Nagaland, LL Doungel, congratulated the cadets for successfully undergoing through the rigorous trainings.

Doungel termed it a “Happy and Proud” day for the recruits – ‘Happy’ because nobody would shout from behind anymore, ‘Proud’ because they have now become a part of the Nagaland Police.

The DGP had a word of caution though. “Your performance at the Parade Ground does not matter anymore,” he stated, adding that their performance on the ground will determine how the State Police machinery fare.

In perhaps a reminder to the use of force at the anti-corruption rally in Dimapur on Thursday, the DGP Nagaland vaguely cautioned the new recruits about “challenging times” stating, “Policing was never easy and still is not easy”.

However, Doungel did not dwell on the subject. “Measure up to the trust and responsibility imposed on us,” he said quickly changing track.

Reiterating the motto of the Nagaland Police - “Security, Service and Sacrifice”, Doungel urged the recruits to serve with “Sincerity of Purpose” asserting that the department will do well if one does so.

Earlier, Principal PTS, Aboli Metha administered the oath of allegiance and also gave a brief report of the training.
