6th Altrura Open kicks off in Chümoukedima

Chümoukedima, August 26 (MExN): The 6th Altrura Open Football Tournament 2024 was officially inaugurated today with a grand ceremony that drew football enthusiasts and dignitaries from across the region.

Lhousito Khro, Chairman of Chümoukedima Town Council, graced the event as the Special Guest. In his address, Khro expressed his honor in participating in the opening ceremony and lauded the Altrura Society for their ongoing dedication to the community. 

He emphasized that the tournament is not just a showcase of individual talent but a crucial platform for learning teamwork and discipline. He encouraged players to use this opportunity to enhance their skills and highlighted the potential for participants to advance to higher levels of competition, including state, national, and international arenas.

The ceremony featured several notable moments, including a leadership segment by Mhasileto Medoze and an invocation by Pastor N. Thungchio Lotha of Lotha Baptist Church, Chümoukedima. Megosielie Kruse, President of Altrura Society, delivered the keynote address, focusing on the society’s commitment to promoting sports and community development. A special performance by Asenuo Metha, popularly known as the “Momo Girl” also marked the event.

The ceremony concluded with an oath-taking led by Shurhotsilie Theunuo, Assistant Games & Sports Secretary, where players pledged to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play throughout the tournament.

A total of 24 teams from across the region are competing for the championship title in this year’s tournament.
