The Khiamniungan people are free Nagas and in this free Nagas areas, Naga leader A.Z.Phizo visited the area in 1952 and inspired the Naga nationalism. Through the initiative of A.Z.Phizo free Nagas formed Hongking Government in 1954. Thus Khiamniungan people served the nation under the Hongking Government.
Again, in 1956, A.Z.Phizo led all Nagas to form Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) and accordingly the FGN was formed at Parashen in Rengma Region. In this formation of Naga national Government, from Khiamniungan, Eno Khüming and Eno Pükho had participated. Eno Khüming was appointed as one of Kilonsers (Minister) of the FGN on that day. In those days there was no region, but province was formed and in each province an Ahng (Governor) was appointed. In Khiamniungan Province, Eno Pükho was appointed as Ahng. As Eno Pükho surrendered to the enemy, Eno Khampung was appointed as Ahng of Khiamniungan province in 1959.
However, on 3rd January 1964, the formation of province was dissolved and states were formed known as Patkai state, Dikhu state, and Japfu state.Khiamniungan area was included in the Patkai state. But Khiamniungan people joined the Dikhu state. However, Thungti Chang wanted to form Hongking State of free Nagas.But his proposal was rejected by Konyak and Phom people. The Ahngs were appointed in the three states and under Ahngs, Pangtong were appointed in each and every District. The first Ahng of Dikhu state was Imsongti and after him Anten Konyak was appointed as Dikhu state Ahng. Under the Dikhu state, Khiamniungan area was named as ‘Khülio King District’ and Eno Liang was appointed as Pangtong of Khülio King District.
But in 1968, the formation of state was dissolved as the Yehzabo (Constitution) of Nagaland amended in that year and then formed Regions in Nagaland. In all Nagaland Regions, Midan Peyus were appointed as the head of administration. In Khiamniungan Region, Eno P. mülio was appointed as first Midan Peyu of Khiamniungan Region in 1968. After the Regional Government was formed in Khiamniungan Region, then only Eno K.Püchung was appointed as Khiamniungan Regional Leacy Hoho meeting was held at Langnukniu village in Eastern side of the Patkai Range.
Before the formation of Regions, there was state Leacy Hoho in Nagaland. The Regional Leacy Hoho was formed and has been practicing since 1968. Therefore, no Region of Nagaland is qualified to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of its Regional Leacy Hoho before 2018 A.D.
