ACYA celebrates silver jubilee

Chungtia, January 14 (MExN): The Ao Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) cum Christ King Catholic Youth Movement, Chungtia silver jubilee was celebrated on January 12 with Francis P. Solo, Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT as the chief guest and Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima as the Main Celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration.

In the introduction to the Eucharistic celebration, Bishop James Thoppil expressed happiness over the youth and community of Chungtia and prayed for God’s blessing on them. In his homily, he said, “This is your generation’s challenge to greatness– to have great expectations as responsible, competent, Catholic leaders. It is in this way you desire to be remembered for, not by the world alone, but by God himself.”

The Bishop also stated Chungtia village is quiet unique since it is the first Ao village that came into the map of the Diocese of Kohima. “I hope and pray that more communities will be added to the map. It is with this hope that we have opened the Mangkolemba centre last November,” he added, according to a press release from ACYA Vice President Limasungla Jamir.

FP Solo stated that “we” are called to practice “our” faith in day to day living. He also said that in life when one meets with obstacles one has two approaches before them, namely negative and positive. “It does not serve to be negative but rather we have to be positive and proactive and then concentrate on what we want to achieve,” he stated. He appreciated the yeoman service rendered to the society by the Catholic Church by way of education and also hoped that the newly established St. Joseph University would bring about quality education.

Catholic Association of Nagaland Vice President, James Sangtam, Director of Nagaland Catholic Movement, Fr. Sojan Xavier, Vice President of Nagaland Catholic Women Association, Kaholi and Johnny Ruangmei, former Secretary General of Catholic Association of Nagaland, and Chairman of Chungtia Council extended greetings.
