Kohima, August 31 (MExN): To commemorate India’s G20 Presidency, a cultural extravaganza-musical concert was organised by Akashvani Kohima, (formerly known as All India Radio) at State Academy Hall, Kohima on August 31.
Head of Programme (HoP) Akashvani Kohima, LK Mulony, in his address, dwelled on the history of G20 which was first launched in 1999 comprising 19 countries and the European Union to ensure financial stability and socio-economic development with the fast-changing technology and the eco-system (climate change).
He said in lieu of India’s Presidency led by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been organising various programmes and summits across the country where Nagaland had also organised the B20 summit under the leadership Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
Mulony said Akashvani under the guidance of the Director General (DG) Dr Vasudha Gupta is organising series of events across the country celebrating India’s glorious journey of G20 Presidency. India will be hosting the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit on September 9 and 10 at New Delhi, he added.
He informed that Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan has initiated the live screening of PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ from 103rd episode programme in Akashvani since July 30 at Raj Bhavan, regularly every last Sunday of the month.
The Head of Programme also enlightened the gathering that the Akashvani Kohima Primary Channel Medium Wave (MW) 469.5 Khz and FM 103 Khz (earlier FM TRAGOPAN) have been clubbed together under a single channel to cover the entire Nagaland and beyond for information, and communication and development of the society.
On the occasion, the 15 tribes of Nagaland performed various folk songs, dances and modern songs besides the performances by local artists. The event also witnessed a stand-up comedy, stated a press release issued by Akashvani Kohima.
