Akhoya Village Council condemns remarks against Jamir

Mokokchung, September 27 (MExN): The Akhoya Village Council (AVC) has expressed deep anguish over “thoughtless and disrespectful” remarks made by NSCN (IM) leaders VS Atem and RH Raising against veteran Naga political leader and former Nagaland Chief Minister Dr SC Jamir.

AVC Chairman Tiatemjen Longkumer in a press release stated that Ungma is the original village of their forefathers and the council shares its solidarity with the decision of Ungma Senso Mongdang and Ao Senden demanding withdrawal of the derogatory statements and disengagement of people's cooperation from the two NSCN (IM) leaders.

The council said it is time for every sensible Naga political leader to display the highest standard of magnanimity and refrain from making any Naga leader a scapegoat for one's own failures, as everyone is failing in fulfilling the political aspiration of the Naga people. It also said it is time that every Naga political leader seeks forgiveness from God and the people and forgive each other, the council stated. 

The AVC also expressed concern over young Naga legislator Achumbemo Kikon “mindlessly insulting” an architect of Nagaland state like Jamir, while enjoying the privilege of sitting in the same House that was tirelessly built by NPC leaders led by Dr Imkongliba, Jamir and other Naga leaders amidst very difficult situations in the Naga hills.

The council urged young Naga politicians like Kikon to be mo re cultured and sensitive to the existence and reality of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, where he sits and presents his views for the greater good of the Naga people’s future.
