Punglwa, August 20 (MExN): The Group ‘E’ All India Sainik Schools National Games 2024 commenced today with a grand opening at Sainik School Punglwa (SSP).
Five Sainik Schools in the East Zone — Sainik School Goalpara, Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Chhingchhip, Sainik School East Siang, and the host, SSP — are taking part in the five-day event.

The games bring together the finest athletic and cultural talents from the five schools, stated a press release from the SSP.
The participants will compete in a variety of disciplines, including football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, athletics, and cultural performances.
Gracing the opening ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, emphasised the importance of such events in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth.

“The Sainik Schools National Games are more than just a platform for showcasing athletic prowess; they are a celebration of the values of dedication, hard work, and unity that our schools stand for,” he added.
As per the release, the five-day event will culminate on 24 August, with a series of finals and closing ceremonies.
