DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed for early release of 2nd and final instalment of the CSS-Post Matric Scholarship for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2022-2023 which remains pending.
In a letter of appeal addressed to the Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs (Education Section), New Delhi, ANCSU acknowledged the MTA, Government of India for releasing an amount of Rs 36, 08, 43, 250 (Thirty six crore eighty six lakh forty three thousand two hundred fifty) as 1st instalment (50% of central share) for the year 2022-2023 on November 16, 2022, over the proposal projected amount of Rs 4685.29 lakhs (Forty six crore eighty-five lakh and twenty-nine thousand) for 43424 beneficiaries for the year 2022-2023.
However, the ANCSU has expressed dismay that the MTA is “neglecting the sole purpose of scholarships through delay tactics year after year in sanctioning scholarships amount to the state of Nagaland.” It stated that on August 31, 2023, the implementing agency submitted a utilization certificate to the concerned authority but even after a lapse of more than 70 days, the matter has been kept in abeyance.
It therefore appealed the concerned authority to understand the need for scholarships by the students for their academic requirements and immediately release the pending 2nd instalment of CSS-PMS for the year 2022-2023 to the state of Nagaland at the earliest.
