Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The All Nagaland Fair Price Shop Association (ANFPSA) on Friday stated that it has decided to postpone its proposed agitation till further notice.
The decision comes at the backdrop of the deadline given by the Association to Nagaland Government for release of the pending transportation and handling charges due to Fair Price Shop dealers all over the State.
The Association informed that on the invitation of the Director, Food and Civil Supplies office, it held a meeting with the State government represented by Joint Director, Nodal officer, Deputy Director and Senior Inspector Dimapur on November 5 in Dimapur.
In the meeting, the ANFPSA expressed its resentment over the government’s apathy towards FPS dealers in addressing the transportation and handling commission issue which was kept pending for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.
The government representatives reportedly offered a patient hearing and agreed to take up the matter ‘rigorously in utmost priority’ with the state and central government and requested the Association to understand their position to work collectively to fetch an amicable solution.
After due consideration, the Association stated that it has decided to wait for the government to meet its demands.
It acknowledged all district unit Fair Price Shop Unions for their support in taking up the issues confronting the FPS dealers, and added that it looks forward to ‘work cohesively till its demand is achieved in all fairness’.
While the ANFPSA has postponed its agitation, it added that “However, in the event of failure to meet the demand by the state government, the Association shall resume its democratic form of agitation program.”
