The Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (Union) and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) will have another sitting on November 22 to deliberate on whether to participate at the upcoming Hornbill Festival or not to participate. The meeting venue was not disclosed but it will take place in Dimapur or Chümoukedima.

According to MLA, A Nyamyei Konyak, the crux of the discussion on November 22 will be on the ENPO decision to abstain from participating in the Hornbill Festival 2023 in Kisama. Though it was not disclosed, the meeting would have the ENLU trying to persuade the ENPO to rescind the boycott call.

Earlier on November 17, “We held a lengthy discussion on the ENPO deciding to abstain from the Hornbill Festival. The same issue will be discussed tomorrow,” he said on the sideline of the Wangala Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival 2023 in Ekranipathar, Dimapur on November 21.

While stating that the ENLU has already decided to participate, he was hopeful of the two parties arriving to an understanding.

The November 17 meeting was followed by another meeting on November 18 where the Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer, on behalf of the state government, met the ENPO in Dimapur appealing the latter to reconsider its decision.
