Appeal to revoke expulsion of NSCN/GPRN-K Gen Secy

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): A statement issued by the ‘military authorities’ of the NSCN/GPRN-K on September 17 condemned the manner in which the group’s former General Secretary Isak Sumi was expelled.

The Commander in Chief, Lt General Moba Konyak, Deputy Chief Lt General Pangging Konyak, GSO- 1 Col Chingkim and GSO-2 Lt Col Bangkhao Konyak  of the Naga Army termed the expulsion “unceremonious and discriminative.”

They said that the General Secretary was expelled by the President “without following established constitutional procedures.”

They cited Article 29 of its constitution according to which “the General Secretary shall be removed by impeachment for violation of the line of National Socialist council and the Yehzabo conviction of treason, sedition, bribery or high crimes and misdemeanour of violation of the council’s discipline by the National Socialist Council or through the People’s council by a majority of two third votes.”

Claiming that “the entire Naga Army rank and file stands in solidarity with our Honourable General Secretary,” they appealed to the NSCN/GPRN-K President Khango to revoke expulsion order in the interest of the party and the government.

It also made the appeal asking the president to keep in mind “the interest of the Nagas above all personal differences at this crucial juncture when the Indo-Naga political solution is at its final stage.”
