Apunu won the SVEEP Instrumental Guitar Contest held on September 18 at the DC Conference Hall in Zunheboto, with Atohike finishing second. The District Election Office, Zunheboto, organised the event as part of voter-awareness initiatives under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS, highlighted the importance of SVEEP as an initiative of the ECI aimed at promoting voter awareness and encouraging greater participation in the electoral process.
“Music can serve as an effective medium for communicating the message of clean, ethical and inclusive elections,” DC Raj added. He noted that people, particularly in Nagaland, have a strong appreciation for music and extracurricular activities, making creative platforms such as the guitar contest an effective means of reaching the public and spreading awareness about responsible voting.
DC Raj encouraged the participants to use their musical talents as ambassadors of voter awareness and carry the message of clean elections to their communities.
A total of nine participants took part in the contest.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Hyunibu Aser Tep, LDA-cum-Computer Assistant. It began with an invocation by M Vitoho Sema, Senior Head Assistant, followed by a welcome address delivered by Bisalee Thonger, Assistant Election Officer (AEO).
