
Kohima, June 18 (MExN): The Assam Rifles in an operation apprehended three drug peddlers near Chedema village in Kohima District on June 16.
Lt Col Sumit K Sharma, PRO (Defence) in a press release stated that based on specific input regarding a consignment of contraband, the AR launched an operation and apprehended three drug peddlers from the area. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Neikuo Toshi; Seyiekhrielie Zao and Theja Mere. During the operation the troops also recovered one Point 22 mm Pistol, two Point 22 mm rounds of ammunition and approximately 15 gms of Brown Sugar amounting to Rs 1,50,000.
“The apprehended persons along with recovered items have been handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigations,” it added.
In another incident on June 17, the AR seized IMFL in general area Kushiabil, Dimapur. A press note from the AR stated that based on specific intelligence regarding consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation in general area Kushiabil, Dimapur and apprehended Tokiyo Sumi. Recoveries included 43 cases of Rum MC Dowells and 15 cases of Kingfisher Beer amounting to Rs 2,20,000, it stated.
The apprehended individual along with seized liquor was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
