DIMAPUR, JUNE 5 (MExN): The Assam Rifles today issued a statement clarifying on the June 2 operation conducted at Jotsoma. A press note from the PRO, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGARN) stated that the operation was carried out along with Nagaland Police and in presence of local witness. “There was no ransacking done, nor the search party carried out search at any girl’s hostel. Further, there was no mistreatment or harm caused to any of the family member. During the search operation there was no damage or harassment caused to anyone,” the press note from the PRO stated. It meanwhile stated that the aspersions cast against Assam Rifles during conduct of operations is “false, baseless and a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Assam Rifles.” The AR meanwhile maintained that during the operation a “large cache of weapons, foreign currency and war like stores were recovered.”
