Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
- Yes. It proves that the public is no longer tolerant of the evils in the society and we want change. It is a voice getting across to the right authority, expressing our discontent and our aspirations for change and for a just society.
- Yes. At least it gives the spirit that we are living not dying.
- Yes, but with remotest effects. public need to be more aggressive against corruptions.
- RTI plays a vital role to compact the corruption in all the places. Do it and file case against if you find something.
- Yes, it is a slow ongoing process but with everything going on and the building public frustration, the fight against corruption grows stronger each day.
- Yes, based on RTI, public couragously taking out to rallies & supporting bandhs and it's the people's judgement with the power they have. With that corruption in any form will definitely be put to a halt upto a certain extent.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
- No, there is nothing spectacular about RTIs. The consistent efforts have to be RTI activist is appreciated but its overall impact is less. Bandhs and rallies do not have much effect in our state because it is more like a formality.
- No. Day after day we read in the local newspapers about some RTI response in one government department or the other. Has it changed anything? No, not at all. It makes all of us angry but unless the people do something about it, nothing will change.
- "No"... Because we have a dumb & deaf government... Shameless is definitely the right word here...
- No. Because they bear no fruits!
- No, there is no efforts to take further steps after that.
- The political leaders and their followers are so used to these activities that they've become completely immune. Therefore the need of the hour is to start a people's revolution like the Bolshevik or French revolution. Only then Nagaland will be cleansed of all corruptions.
- No, unless the rallies and protest against corruption are taken up to state capital, it will have little effect. We may shout all that we want to in Dimapur, but the real battle is in Kohima.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
- It has limited role. It is good for bringing to light the fact and figures and also how decisions were made at the policy level. But beyond that unless people act on the RTI, it does not result in anything. RTI and rallies have impact only when the people start acting on it.
- Have not seen any result from RTI and protest.
- RTI have not yet brought any complete solution to the problem but bandhs and rallies have produce results in the past. Eg... TR Zeliang stepping down, Teacher Salary disbursement etc were the result of bandhs and rallies. I do believe very soon RTI too will produce results.
- Can't say ...! Because, till date so many RTI filed by many individuals /Activists and published in print medias /Social Platforms but no action taken to any Officials involved in all those scams and corruption's. When everything was given in black & white through RTI, yet there is no solutions, then what's the use of filing RTI also? So at the end everything becomes just a CHALTA HAI thingy in Nagaland.
- RTI in fact is been misused by some individual's and group's for their own personal benefits, presumably an easy way to earn sum quick buck. And not the way it's supposed to be.
- The issue of corruption should be clear and it should not be mixed up. I support ACAUT and the campaign against corruption. I was in the rally and was happy to hear youngsters speak out clearly against corruption. But I was also disappointed because the older speakers did not focus on corruption but on other political issues which was not the purpose of the rally.
