Guwahati, May 1 (MExN): Assam down town University (AdtU), Guwahati, conducted a five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Innovation and Entrepreneurship from April 22-26. The University collaborated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Union Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC) for the event.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest, KS Gopinath Narayan, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, highlighted the significance of Artificial Intelligence and urged faculty members to adopt innovation and foster entrepreneurship within their institutions.
AdtU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. NC Talukdar, along with the Pro VC and senior officials, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the vital role of academic institutions in nurturing innovation and startup ecosystems. The inaugural ceremony was graced by several dignitaries.

A press release from AdtU informed that throughout the five days, participants engaged in insightful sessions led by experts covering key topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, problem identification, creative ideation, lean startup approaches, customer discovery, value proposition design, startup management, business model development, and intellectual property rights.
Speakers included Dr Hirak Ranjan Das, Dr Vikramjit Kakati, Dr Subra Mukherjee, Manoj Kumar Das, Vishnu K Suresh, Nishant Agarwal, Rajeev Goswami, Dr Simanta Kalita, Dr Pankaj Kumar, and Manash Barman, representing higher education institutions, industry, and the startup and incubation ecosystem.
A special experiential visit to AdtU’s Incubation Centre allowed participants to observe real-time startup support mechanisms, the release said. The final day featured an action plan sharing session led by Rajib Lochan Pathak, enabling participants to translate their learning into institutional strategies for their respective institutions.
The FDP witnessed active participation from faculty members of higher education institutions across Assam, along with members from various incubation centers, creating a vibrant environment for knowledge exchange and collaboration, it added.
AdtU also reaffirmed its dedication to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship through sustained initiatives and partnerships.
