ATMA Kohima continues helping farmers through trainings

Kohima, September 15 (MExN): Demonstration on package of practices of coriander, green pea and broccoli was carried out in Khuzama and Jakhama village under Jakhama, Kohima district on September 9. 

The resource persons were Ketholezo Kipu ATM; Vimenuo Mere, BTM; Atuno Zinyu ATM; Neitouzo Belho ATM, ATMA Jakhama Block, Kohima. 

During the programme, the importance of soaking the seeds overnight to ease in germination in coriander, stacking in green pea and importance of manuring were demonstrated to the farmers. They were shown how to make the bed, for the seed sowing to be carried out and the required depth for seed sowing which is idle for germination and time taken for maturity and harvest was highlighted. The farmers were given hands on experience on planting coriander seeds and green pea seeds at specified spacing. Irrigation was done after sowing the seeds.

Altogether 28 participants attended the programme.

On September 13, Fishery Farm School was inaugurated at Pfuchama under the technical guidance of ATMA Jakhama Block, at Pfuchama Village. The resource person, Wabang Longkumer, BTT Convener, Jakhama Block highlighted the objectives of farm school and the duties of Farm School Teacher as the link between progressive farmers and disseminates new technologies to fellow farmers. This was followed by training on the importance of fishery pond management. 

Longkumer shared on the ideal size of a fishery pond for a particular number of fingerlings, parameters of water, timely control, and eradication of weeds, feeding habits and behaviours. The training was attended by 22 participants including Food Security Group and ATMA functionaries.
