Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur, Niuland Block conducted joint visit with KVK, Jharnapani to a Linseed (T-397 variety) field at Nihokhu village on February 8 belonging to one progressive woman farmer. The programme was conducted at the field of the woman farmer who received linseed seeds during ATMA FLD programme during the month of November 2018. The field has an area of 1 acre in which 15 kgs of seeds were broadcasted under package technology.
During the joint visit programme resource persons from KVK-Jharnapani, Roben Singh, ACTO (Agronomy) and James Kikon, ACTO (Soil Sc) rectified certain yellowing of plants known as chlorosis which usually results due to deficiencies in iron, zinc in soil and NPK fertilizers. They stated that irrigation should be provided at least 2-3 times during its season for proper yield. When there is no proper water source in the form of wells, rivers and ponds nearby the field, low cost jalkund should be constructed for storing rain water, it added.
