Wokha, September 24 (MExN): ATMA Ralan block, Wokha conducted training on cultivation practices of winter vegetables by Nchumthung Shitirie, ATM at Liphanyan Village on September 19.

A press release received here stated that the ATM highlighted on the importance of nursery bed preparation, spacing, land preparation and pest and disease management. He also appraised the farmers on crop rotation as well as planting of trap crops to minimize pest infestations on the main crop. A brief session on application and preparation of neem oil was also explained. 

Later, a demonstration on nursery seed bed preparation was conducted by Soyingbeni Tsanglao, ATM. She emphasized on nursery management, line sowing, and application of mulches for better moisture retention and to control weeds. She also highlighted on soil-less media of raising seedlings with the use of coco-peat on a nursery or seedling trays. 

Broccoli and cauliflower seeds were distributed to the 50 farmer participants after the programme.
