Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): Auto Gallery FC Dimapur clinched the title in the 2nd Autumn Cup 2024, an open football tournament for players aged 35 and above. The final, held under a bright afternoon sun, saw Auto Gallery FC secure a 2-0 victory over Kuki Golgnai FC.

The match, organized by the Chumoukedima Football Referee Board (CDFRB), showcased a competitive game with both teams vying for control in the midfield through sharp passes and a fast pace. Despite strong efforts from both sides, the first half ended in a stalemate with no goals.

The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Auto Gallery’s substitute, Chuba Temjen, was fouled in the penalty area. Temjen confidently converted the penalty, giving Auto Gallery the lead. He doubled the advantage in the 60th minute, breaking through the offside trap and scoring again. Kuki Golgnai FC had a chance to equalize in the final minute but missed a critical opportunity to score.

The final score was 2-0 in favor of Auto Gallery FC Dimapur. The afternoon also featured a special guest, Mr. Neidilhoutuo Neibu Sechü, Vice President of the Kohima District Football Association and General Secretary of the Angami Youth Organization.

Neibu Sechü praised the CDFRB for providing a platform for 35+ players and urged them to continue supporting the sport. He also expressed concerns about the state’s sports scenario, noting the lack of Olympians since Dr. T. Ao and Chakruvolu. He emphasized the need for sincerity and dedication in sports to achieve one’s goals.
