Awareness camps on HIV, TB and blood donation

Dimapur, March 30 (MExN): The 3rd phase of the New India @75 awareness campaign was spearheaded by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU) and District Tuberculosis Officer, Dimapur, and conducted awareness camps on HIV, TB and Blood donation to various schools and colleges within Dimapur district.

A DIPR report stated that altogether six schools and seven colleges namely Daeshin Academy, Dimapur Mission HSS, Vidya Bhavan HSS, St Edmunds HSS, Unity HSS, Cornerstone HSS, and seven colleges namely Tetso College, Cornerstone College, Unity College, MGM College, JN Aier College, Salesian College, Bosco College of Teachers Education were covered under the 3rd phase. 

The campaign also included competitions on the three themes i.e. HIV, TB, and Blood donation for the schools and colleges. In the school category, the competition was on Paint your thought (Face painting/ Mask painting) and Voice your thought (Spoken word competition), and at the college level the competition was on Publicize your thought (Poster making) and Film your thought (short video/documentary. 

Altogether 536 adolescents and 701 youths were sensitized to HIV, TB, and blood donation through the intensified awareness campaign.

After all the entries were received the screening committee screened and judged the entries received from the students under the three themes. After the committee screened the entries the result of the competition was declared on March 25 with CMO who felicitated the winners as the special guest. The organizers also felicitated the District committee members.
