Awareness prog on tobacco at New Era School held

Zunheboto, September 16 (MExN): District Health Society, Zunheboto in collaboration with National Tobacco Control Programme held school awareness programme on tobacco at New Era School, Zunheboto on September 16.
Dr. Esther Ngullie, Dental Surgeon, District Hospital Zunheboto speaking on the programme said that tobacco contributes to most of the leading causes of death in the world. She highlighted about the various Health effects of using tobacco and elaborated about the risk factor and consequences of tobacco use.
She added that tobacco use has predominantly negative effects on human health and concern about health effects of tobacco has a long history. She stated that tobacco use leads most commonly to diseases affecting the heart, liver and lungs and encouraged the students to do away with the use of tobacco and motivate the students to be the living example not to indulge in tobacco products. Further, she encouraged the students not to take tobacco and be champion of tobacco free life and challenged them to live a healthy and beautiful life.
Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, Chief Medical Officer Office, Zunheboto in a press release stated that during the awareness programme, an open quiz competition was held where the winners were given gifts. A pledge was also taken and free IEC materials were distributed during the programme.
