BJP making ‘tall claims’ without knowing ground reality of Nagaland, says Congress

The Indian National Congress (INC) today slammed the BJP’s claimed of Nagaland is ‘now a place of peace, prosperity and development.’

During the joint campaign launching programme of NDPP-BJP on February 14 at Kohima, JP Nadda, BJP National President made this statement during his speech.

During a press briefing this evening at Congress Bhawan, Kohima All India Congress Committee (AICC) media coordinator for Nagaland, Mahima Singh accused the BJP of proudly making ‘tall claims’ without knowing and understanding the ground reality of the state.

“We are astonished to see 35 pages of their (BJP) manifesto, and we are looking forward to see more brazen lies of the NDPP,” said Singh.

On the grounds, she pointed out the deplorable road conditions, erratic power and water supply, unemployment etc. “They are living in another world and disconnected with the ground realities,” she said.  

She accused the NDPP-BJP government of making ‘cluster of claims’ and promises being fulfilled without any data and statistics.

On the question of high court scams being asked by the Congress, Singh said there were no answers yet.

To which, she asserted it will not stop asking questions about development, infrastructures and issues plaguing Nagaland until ‘the children, youth and women’ are given what had been promised.

NDPP-BJP clinging to power
Singh also accused the NDPP-BJP coalition government of clinging to power, thereby encouraging violence and corruption s across the state.

“The most critical issue is of the violence and unethical corrupt practices owing to the tendency of BJP-NDPP clinging to power’ Singh stated.

To this end, she posited “where are the roots of this violence coming from? Isn’t it coming from BJP and NDPP?”.

While stating that Nagas have had its shares in the past, Singh appealed the youth to stay away from violence adding the election will go away in few weeks time, and the people as a society will continue to live together.

At the same time, she also urged the people of the state to see clearly of the government that has ruled for 20 years has not presented a report card. 

Meanwhile, Singh informed that MP and senior Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh is visiting the state capital on February 16. On his arrival, he will hold a press conference at Kohima.
