
Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): To honour and celebrate the diverse culture of India, North East Zone Cultural Center (NEZCC) Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) organised ‘Bridging Classical and Folk Dance of Nagaland’ event at Christian Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Dimapur.
Special Judge Posco Court Dimapur, V Nyekha; DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Patton and Indigenous Cultural Society Dimapur Nagaland and President, Nagaland NGOs Forum graced the occasion as special guest and guests of honour, stated a DIPR report.
Nyekha appealed the VWF Dimapur and NEZCC for expanding such activities throughout Nagaland in order to bridge classical and folk dances of Nagaland. He reminded about the philosophy of Government of India for reviving the culture of different states of India and urged the organisers for reaching out the message to all the other districts headquarters of Nagaland.
Lolano pointed out that the origin of classical and folk dance may be different, yet both reflect the rich heritage and cultural diversity of India. “This greatly speak volumes about Oneness in us and sense of belongingness to one another keeping in tune with the slogan, Unity In Diversity,” she maintained.
Dr Hesheto while heaping praises to the VWF Dimapur, said that the Foundation was one of the best performing NGOs amongst the 33000 NGOs in Nagaland. Culture is all about cultivating, honouring and representing the identity that is inbuilt in us, he maintained.
Chief Coordinator, Manisha Borkotoki delivered the welcome note while Secretary VWF highlighted about the activities of the Foundation.
Highlights of the programme included dance by Reya and group, fusion performance and felicitation of participants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Coordinator, Priya Bhattacharjee.
