‘Bridging gaps towards sustainable horticulture’

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 26 (MExN): A programme on bridging the gaps towards sustainable horticulture in Nagaland under the patronage of Governor of Nagaland, P. B. Acharya was organised by the Horticultural Department at Town Hall, Dimapur on September 26.  

Atul R Patwardhan from Chintamani Consultancy & Services, Pune Maharashtra, who attended as special invitee, in his address highlighted the various subsidy schemes under National (NHB) and guidelines to avail such schemes.  

He said that from 2009 to 2017, Nagaland State availed only 455 lakh which could be mostly due to lack of awareness and also due to non-fulfillment of guidelines, adding that if ‘reserved subsidy schemes’ were not availed it may also be diverted to other states. Speaking on guidelines of subsidy schemes, he said that if the area of land, belonging to a particular farmer, does not reach the prescribed area, he can jointly apply with farmers whose land are adjacent which willmake the finding of market linkages easier for their produce.  

Different schemes highlighted during his presentation included Integrated Post Harvest Management Project up to Rs. 45 Lakh, Pack House up to Rs. 4 Lakh per unit, Integrated Pack House up to Rs. 50 lakh per unit, Pre Cooling unit up to Rs. 25 Lakh per unit &6MT capacity, Cold Room up to Rs. 15 lakh per unit & 30 MT capacity, Mobile pre-Cooling unit up to Rs. 25 lakh, Ripening Champer up to 25 MT, Rs. 1 lakh/MT and Refer Vans up to Rs. 30 lakh per van, 15 MT capacity which comes under Post Management Projects.  

Projects under Controlled environment: Projects of Cultivation of cut flowers like Orchids, Anthurium, Lillium, Gerperia, Chrysanthemum etc. projects of cultivation on exotic vegetables like colored Capsicum, Cucumber, Tomato etc. with the project cost up to Rs. 112 lakh per project with a covering area of above 2250 sq.mtrs with subsidy of 50% of project cost, maximum up to Rs. 56 lakh per project.  

Under open field projects:Projects of Cultivation of crops like orange, passion fruit, pineapple, banana, apple, lichi, cardamom and projects for cultivation of flower- crops like gladiolus, tube rose with a project cost upto Rs. 75 lakh per project with subsidy of 50% of project cost maximum up to Rs37. 50 lakh.   For detailed information famers may contact him at his mobile No. 8055751969.
