Brief Note on Naga Council Holy Land Pilgrimage

In what may be a first of its kind pilgrimage by voluntary social organization, the Naga Council Dimapur team of 30 members had the blessed privilege to travel virtually the length and breadth of Israel, visiting numerous Holy sites and memorial Churches of Lord Jesus Christ who lived, died and rose again in the Holy Land of Israel and Egypt more than 2000 years ago.
The Council team began its pilgrimage from the Northern Israel and completed the journey in Egypt. Among the many historical places visited include Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, the village of Cana, Nazareth, Tiberias, the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Bethany, Lazarus’ tomb, Golgotha where Christ was crucified, the Garden Tomb of Jesus, the sites and magnificent memorial Churches built on the spots where Jesus turned water into wine, multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5000 men, Church of Annunciation, Church, etc.
The journey through Israel was indeed breadth-taking and magnificent where words fail to define the glorious experience in the Land of Jesus. To see the rich agricultural lands in the Jordan valley with its verdant cultivation springing out of the desert was indeed beyond description!
The visit to the Dome of the Rock was a historic event in itself. Here, suddenly, we were at the very spot where the fate of the world will be decided when the Temple is rebuilt by Israel which will also herald the imminent return of Christ to the world, commonly called the Second Coming of Christ.
The roads of Israel and its people are magnificent. It is amazing to find that the Biblical events and holy sites are meticulously preserved even after 2000 years.
The Naga Council team prayed and sang devotional hymns at selected Holy sites and along the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross. This is the path where Christ walked as He took His Cross to Calvary to be crucified for the sin of humanity. There are 14 stations along the way which marks the spots where Christ stopped and fell due to exhaustion and pain as He carried The Cross for us to Calvary.
Naga Council considered the Holy Land tour was appropriate as a first choice in its pilgrimage-cum-exposure trip for all tribal Councilors. The divine example of servitude, truth and sacrifice is best set by Christ. It is with the fond dream that leaders would learn from the divine compassion of Christ and emulate the same as we serve the Naga society with truth and honesty.
The tour was funded by individual Councilors raiding own 50% of the entire cost, while the remaining half was mobilized by the Office of the Naga Council and the generous contribution by the following leaders for which Naga Council stands ever grateful :

1.    Shri Imkong Imchen, Home Minister, 50,000/-
2.    Shri TR Zeliang, Planning Minister, 1,00,000/-

4.    Shri Azheto Zhimomi, MLA & Advisor, Seri & Coop., 1,00,000/-
