Kohima, March 3 (MExN): A career talk on ‘Orientation on higher studies’ was conducted at Phek Government College on March 2.
It was organised by Alumni Association, Phek Government College for the BA and BSc final year students. Dr. Muluvesalu Keyho, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University, Arunachal Pradesh was the resource person.
The speaker, who is an alumni of the college of 2010 batch, encouraged the students to go for higher studies. She gave a detail presentation of her university and introduced the students to various emerging career avenues such as yoga instructor, defence, physical education etc. The speaker urged the students to register themselves basing on their career choices. She also motivated the students on the eligibility criteria and how to get admission in the university.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Dr. Zhokusheyi Rhakho, Assistant Professor, Dept. of History, Phek College while welcome address was delivered by the college principal Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir.
Vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. Tsotalu Nakro, Assistant professor, Dept. of History, Phek Government College.
Observes National Science Day
The College observed National Science Day on February 28 with the theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat.” The programme was organized by Science Club in collaboration with IQAC of Phek Government College.
The program was chaired by Nisekhoto Nisa, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology, invocation by Akhrienuo, Librarian PGC. Welcome note was delivered by Principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir followed by a special song by the B.Sc 6th semester students. The resource person for the event was Lydia Keyho, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.
She stressed on the theme which focusses on the vision of a fully developed India and finding solutions to our challenges as we move forward as a country. The importance of science and technology in making India a self-reliant country, and celebrating the successes of Indian Scientists was also highlighted in her speech.
There was also a time of competition for prepared speeches on the theme “Science for a sustainable Future.”
The first position was bagged by Sugulu Nienu of Christian Mission Hr. Secondary School, Phek, second position by Sebalu Rhakho of Royal Foundation School, Phek and third position by Setseno Nuwiry of Holy Care School, Phek.
The competition was judged by Dr. Nutazo Lohe, Shesalu Lohe and Mughato K. Kiba, Assistant Professors, Phek Govt. College.
The competition was followed by a display of Exhibition (theme – Science for a sustainable future) by the students of different departments under Phek Government College Science stream.
