Kohima, September 8 (MExN): Couples For Christ (CFC) Nagaland conducted “Marriage Enrichment Retreat (MER) 1 & 2” at St Ignatius Parish, Razeba in Phek district from September 6 to 8.

It was held with Rev Fr James Sangtam as the main celebrant on Sunday for the Holy Eucharist. Rev Fr Sangtam gave his special blessing to all the couples who renewed their marriage vows.

In response to the need for a better understanding and appreciation of God’s plan for marriage and family life, the Marriage Enrichment Retreat evolved and is a part of the programme of CFC, according to a release issued by Mengukhrietuo Marcus, Chapter Head & State Coordinator, CFC Nagaland.

For couples to discover God’s plan more clearly and intimately, there is a need to spend time in an atmosphere where God’s word can be studied, understood and meditated on; where couples can have an opportunity to come before the Lord and present themselves as a living oblation, the release added.

A time is needed where couples can take stock and assess themselves, relationship, their family life and their role within the context of God’s plan, it added. Couples need time to know God’s vision and take practical steps in order to attain the goal God is calling them to, it further menitoned.

It stated that prayer is an effective way of discovering God's call and responding to that call with faith and humility.
The MER has seven talks which examines important areas of Christian marriage and family life, where the talks not only present teachings based on the Bible, but also practical guidelines for daily living.

Serving God through Christian marriage was shared by Zasi Stany Rume while Kehouletuo Alexander talked on “Christian couple as a pastoral team.” Other speakers of the programme included: Kevilenuo Liza, Sarhünyi John and Mengukhrietuo Marcus.
