YAA conducts first phase of inspecting government offices in Chessore
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 19 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) conducted the first phase of its inspection tour by visiting the different government offices, health centres and schools at Chessore Town, under Tuensang district from September 10 to 14.
A press note from the YAA Vice President, Ariba Yimchunger and General Secretary, L Akhang lamented that during their inspection tour, they found the functioning of the government offices to be “totally unsatisfactory.” It further expressed concern at the “negligence of the designated officers and the step motherly treatment” of the Nagaland State Government towards the people of the “backward region.”
No SDO (R&B) since 2015
The YAA informed that the Sub Divisional Officer (R&B) posted at Chessore has been transferred out since 2015. Presently, it stated that the office is functioning without the said officer. The YAA further detected that the said office “appears same as the neglected road and is locked throughout the month.”
The YAA expressed shock at this situation, especially at a time when the “rural people are yearning for good roads and communication.” It urged that the Nagaland State Government post an SDO (R&B) to Chessore at the earliest “or revert back the same officer before 1st October, 2016.”
PHC Chessore has no office building
Meanwhile, informing that the dilapidated Public Health Centre Chessore was dismantled in the year 2009, the YAA revealed that it has no office building of its own till date and is temporarily functioning in a doctors’ quarter.
The YAA further revealed that the Doctor is said to be on a study leave and the Pharmacist is found to be out of station since July 7, 2016. The YAA directed the concerned officials to report to their place of posting within 15 days. It also reminded the concerned department for posting of a Medical Officer at PHC Chessore before October 1, 2016. The YAA further informed the concerned department that “hereafter no doctor should be posted to any Health centre under Yimchunger jurisdiction just to get study leave.”
No infrastructure for Child Development Project Office
The YAA revealed that the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Chessore has no infrastructure building of its own and is temporarily running in a rented house. It expressed sadness that Chessore, one of the oldest established towns under Tuensang district, is being “neglected.” It urged the Nagaland State Government for the development of the said office.
No office for Block Development Officer
Similarly, the office of the Block Development Officer (BDO), Chessore also has no building of its own. It is presently functioning in a BDO quarter, the YAA informed. It urged the Nagaland State Government to initiate work for construction of the office “as many schemes including MGNREGA for the villagers are implemented through this office.”
Veterinary Office and quarter abandoned
The YAA also reported that the veterinary office and its quarter at Chessore are “totally abandoned by the department.” Given the situation, it questioned that “if at all the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry exists in Nagaland, then the undersigned organization demands for clear justification if the department has any concern for the public at the grass root level or only its creamy layer.”
The YAA said that the people of this area “have not benefitted from any schemes under this department.” While maintaining that it is important for rural farmers to productively engage in livestock production towards sustaining the rural economy, the YAA however stated that the various schemes implemented have not reached the public. It also questioned whether the concerned authority has worked towards strict implementation of the various schemes.
Listing out the aforementioned concerns, the YAA further issued a caution to all government officers posted at Chessore under different departments to be at station before October 1. It warned that if any officer is found absent thereafter, “the YAA will initiate further course of action against the erring officers.”
