Chhattisgarh overpowers Nagaland

Col C K Nayudu Trophy

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): In a high-stakes encounter at the Sector 10 B S P Cricket Stadium, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh showcased an exceptional performance against Nagaland, securing victory by an innings and 228 runs. This triumph marks a significant milestone in the ongoing Col C K Nayudu Trophy as Chhattisgarh continues to strengthen its position in the tournament.

Chhattisgarh’s top-order batter Ashish Kumar Dahariya stole the spotlight with a monumental 252* off 293 balls. His innings, featuring solid technique and aggressive shot selection, laid the foundation for Chhattisgarh’s mammoth total of 411/3 declared in 99.5 overs. Dahariya’s unbeaten knock was instrumental, supported by an efficient run rate that kept Nagaland under constant pressure.

Nagaland, in response, struggled to establish momentum against a disciplined Chhattisgarh bowling attack. In the first innings, Nagaland managed only 113 runs in 49.4 overs, with Mughavi Sumi providing some resistance, scoring 38 off 96 balls. Gaurav Chaturvedi led Chhattisgarh’s bowling attack with figures of 4/15, displaying precision and control to dismantle Nagaland’s batting lineup.

The second innings saw Nagaland falter once again, dismissed for a mere 70 runs in 20.2 overs. Varun Singh Bhuie’s remarkable bowling spell of 6/17 played a key role in sealing the win for Chhattisgarh, leaving Nagaland’s batsmen struggling to find their footing. Vishal Sahani’s quickfire 14 off 17 balls was one of the few highlights for Nagaland as they succumbed to the relentless bowling.
