Childline-1098 to provide service in Peren

Peren, September 17 (MExN): An emergency 24-hours national toll-free helpline number-1098 to address issues related to children was launched at Conference Hall, DC Complex, New Peren on September 17.
So far in the district of Dimapur and Mokokchung, 620 phone calls have been received within a year and in National level about 1 crore 32 lakhs phone calls have been received, informed Nodal Director CHILDLINE 1098 Nagaland & Governing Board Member, CIF, Subonenba Longkumer while speaking at the programme.
Longkumer asserted that Childline 1098 aims to reach out to children who are in need of special care and attention. The main motive of introducing this helpline is to provide services to abused children or children put into child labour, emotionally and physically disturbed children, abandoned children, missing or run-away children etc.
Counseling can also be made through phone calls, he stated. Furthermore, he requested the Churches, Institutions, Government and NGOs to support Childline project and also urged both the Government and Private institutions to organise awareness programmes.
DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, who officially launched the Peren District Childline 1098 encouraged the team to give their utmost importance and strive hard so that they can reach the required target and hoped that with this launching, Peren District will experience a bigger change in the future of the children.
The launching programme was moderated by Counsellor, CHILDLINE 1098 Peren, Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland, Ganchuimei Gonmei while short speeches were also delivered by Additional SP, Peren, Limaakum T. Jamir & District Child Protection Officer, Peren, Avika Zhimomi and vote of thanks was proposed by Centre Coordinator, CHILDLINE 1098 Peren, Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland, Ibamsile Doson.
A DIPR report stated that Childline 1098 Peren which is an initiative of Collab. Organisation: Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland & Childline India Foundation (CIF) is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.
